The Jennifer Hudson Show is nominated for six—we repeat, six—Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Daytime Talk Series. And the only person who didn’t see it coming was Jennifer Hudson.
Jennifer Hudson Reacts to Daytime Emmy Nom & Teases What’s to Come on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’
The 41-year-old singer recently sat down for an exclusive interview with PureWow to promote Mastercard’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign (more on this later). While discussing The Jennifer Hudson Show, she revealed that her recent nominations were a complete surprise.
“I did not see it coming at all. I was like, ‘Whoa,’” she told PureWow. “Everything is really from the heart. And the award is acknowledgement. It is encouragement. And it’s a bonus.”
Hudson admitted that she wasn’t expecting any Daytime Emmy Award nominations—especially during the show’s first season. “It’s a whole new ground as well to be nominated on my first season,” she said. “It inspires me, and it helps me to know that I’m on the right track for the next season. And hopefully that will lead me to 25 years.” *Crosses fingers*
When asked what fans can expect from the future of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the musician explained that she wants to continue highlighting real stories. “Some of my favorite guests are everyday heroes. You know, there are so many more heroes out there than celebrities. And we get to learn that at The Jennifer Hudson Show and get to hear and be inspired by stories.”
Hudson also discussed Mastercard’s Stand Up To Cancer donation campaign, which enables cardholders to support cancer research through dining and grocery purchases. “When you swipe your Mastercard, you just know you’re making a difference in someone's life,” Hudson added. “Every bit counts especially with something like this. Just letting people know you care can be healing.”
Cheers to the next 25 years!
