Jeff Goldblum Set to Star in ‘Wicked’ Movies in *Very* Big Role

We already knew the Wicked movie adaptation features a star-studded cast. For instance, the two-part film will star Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero. (Pssst: The first installment will premiere in theaters on November 27, 2024.)

Now, we *finally* have our Wizard. This week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, actor Jeff Goldblum confirmed that he will play the Wizard in the Wicked film adaptation. Reports about his rumored involvement in the cast have been circulating the internet for a while, but he finally made it official on the late-night talk show.

“I was just on the set of Wicked. I'm not supposed to talk about that. But it's been out and about,” Goldblum said, revealing that his two sons, Charlie (7) and River (5), recently joined him on the set.

While the Jurassic World alum remained pretty tight-lipped about the movie, the star told Kimmel that he showed his kids the 1939 version of the beloved classic, The Wizard of Oz. But, it wasn’t their cup of tea.

“We showed them The Wizard of Oz, one of my favorite movies. It was too scary for them,” Goldblum explained. "The witch is terrifying. Margaret Hamilton, terrifying."

On one final note, Goldblum, 70, subtly teased the stellar performance of his two co-stars, saying, “You should see our witches—Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande—very good.”

The production for the first Wicked movie is already underway. Back in October 2022, the “NASA” singer shared a series of BTS pics and vids from filming on Instagram.

The first photo featured the artist sitting next to her co-star Erivo in what appears to be a ballerina studio. They both sat on the floor wearing all-black ensembles and Erivo was casually wearing an olive green beanie hat.

We can’t wait to see you play the Wizard, Jeff.
