Up (2009), Coco (2017), Toy Story 3 (2010). What do all these movies have in common? They all represent the fact that Pixar knows how to get the waterworks flowing with their animated flicks. One of the guiltiest culprits is the studio’s 2015 film, Inside Out, which dives inside the mind of a young girl named Riley and introduces viewers to her anthropomorphized emotions. Now, a sequel, titled Inside Out 2, is on the way and we finally have our first look at what is sure to be yet another tearjerker. Check out the first official teaser trailer below.

“The little voices inside your head know you inside and out,” a title card says at the beginning of the teaser. “But everything changes.”
At first it seems like all is good and well for Riley and the crew of emotions running things inside her mind. “Our little girl’s growing up so fast and things couldn't be better,” Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) says in the clip. But suddenly, things take a turn when Riley becomes a teenager.
We see a demolition crew come into the control room where Riley’s emotions work, and then the original five are met by a new emotion. “Oh my gosh, I'm anxiety!” The character (voiced by Stranger Things star Maya Hawke) says.
But Anxiety isn't the only one joining the bunch. “We wanted to make such a good first impression,” she says to the others. “What do you mean ‘we?’” Disgust asks.
Although we don't get to meet the other new emotions, they appear to be teased at the end of the trailer. The phrase, “The feel good movie of 2024,” flashes across the screen, but the word “good” is replaced with all kinds of other emotions, like “embarrassed,” “envious” and “ennui.” All we know is we can't wait to meet them.
The screenplay for Inside Out 2 was written by Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the script for the original film with Pete Docter and Josh Cooley.
Inside Out 2 hits theaters on June 14, 2024.
