Am I one of those people who practically ran to their nearest bookstore to pick up Zakiya Dalila Harris’s book, The Other Black Girl, after seeing it all over BookTok? Guilty. And did I find it hard to put the book down because the story is just that good? Absolutely. So, imagine my excitement when I discovered the best-selling novel is being turned into a Hulu series.

Back in August, Hulu released the first official trailer for The Other Black Girl. The two-minute trailer starts by introducing us to our main character: 26-year-old Nella Rogers. Nella is the only Black employee working for Wagner Books publishing company. But that changes when Harlem-native Hazel starts interning at the office.

“Wagner’s just…you’ll see,” Nella tells her new work BFF.

But Nelle soon learns that Hazel’s presence in the office may not be as great as she thought. Shortly after Hazel joins the team and gets promoted to “Office Darling,” Nelle gets a note that reads, “LEAVE WAGNER. NOW.”

As a string of unfortunate events continue to happen to Nelle, she soon learns darker secrets are lurking in the shadows of the company.
