Harry Potter fans better sit down for this brand-new teaser for the upcoming reunion.
Today, HBO Max released a first look at Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. The special will honor the franchise’s first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which hit theaters back in 2001. (Just let that sink in.)
The teaser (which was released during Sunday night’s episode of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses) features Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Matthew Lewis (Neville) receiving their invitations to return to Hogwarts for the highly anticipated reunion. Without hesitation, both actors make their way to Platform 9 ¾, where the adventure seemingly begins.
The clip also lists the names of other returning cast members, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart. (More are expected to be announced.)
We first learned about Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts last month when HBO confirmed the O.G. cast would come together for a much-needed reunion. According to Entertainment Weekly, “the special will share new details on the production through in-depth interviews and cast conversations.”
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will hit HBO on January 1, so mark your calendars.
