Liked ‘Virgin River’? Then You’re Gonna Love Netflix’s Newest Show ‘Firefly Lane’

If you loved Virgin River, then we highly recommend you add Netflix’s all-new series, Firefly Lane, to your streaming queue.

The show is based on the namesake 2008 novel by Kristin Hannah, which is why the title might sound familiar to some booklovers. Netflix is calling Firefly Lane a “premium soap,” so we’re expecting it to be a cross between Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias. (Sounds right up our alley.)

Firefly Lane follows two lifelong best friends, Kate Mularky (played by Sarah Chalke) and Tallulah “Tully” Hart (played by Katherine Heigl), who couldn’t be more different. While Kate is extremely reserved, Tully dreams of becoming a famous broadcaster.

The story is told over the course of decades, beginning with their childhood and following their journey to adulthood, so prepare to see loads of wigs on both Chalke and Heigl (who is sporting a new brunette hairstyle). Although Kate and Tully occasionally grow apart, they always find their way back to each other and their childhood memories, which originated on a street called—you guessed it—Firefly Lane.

We’re not saying that Firefly Lane won’t be cheesy—because it most likely will be. However, if you enjoyed the drama that ensued on Virgin River, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Firefly Lane will premiere on Wednesday, February 3, on Netflix. *Sets calendar reminder*
