This Aubrey Plaza Film Is Now One of the Top Movies on Netflix (Likely Thanks to ‘The White Lotus’)

We're still reeling from that White Lotus season 2 finale (don't worry, there won't be any spoilers here). But among the many buzzy elements of the popular HBO series, one of the highlights from this season was Aubrey Plaza, who plays an activism-focused lawyer that feels her marriage is losing its spark. And clearly, fans couldn't get enough of the Parks & Recreation alum, because now that The White Lotus has ended, Plaza's 2022 film Emily the Criminal has flown into Netflix's list of most-watched movies.

Plaza's picture is currently sitting at #5 on the streaming site's list of top movies, where it is ranked above films like the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Best of Me and the Channing Tatum comedy 21 Jump Street. Check out the trailer for the movie below.

In Emily the Criminal, Plaza portrays the titular Emily, an independent contractor who is struggling to pay back her student loans and can't secure a job due to a past conviction. However, when presented with the opportunity to make some fast cash, Emily finds herself in deep with a scamming business that produces fake credit cards.

Emily must try to keep up this scheme, all the while trying to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life...and what will make her happy. “I just want to be able to experience things,” Plaza's character says in the trailer when asked what she would do if she had money.

Alongside Plaza, Emily the Criminal stars Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy), Megalyn Echikunwoke (24), Gina Gershon (Riverdale), Jonathan Avigdori (The Lincoln Lawyer), Bernardo Badillo (Sully), John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Brandon Sklenar (Vice).

The film was written and directed by John Patton Ford in his feature film debut, and along with starring in the film, Plaza also acted as a producer alongside Tyler Davidson and Drew Sykes.

We can never get enough of you, Miss Plaza.
