More Downton Abbey is coming our way!

While appearing on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Wednesday, March 20, actress Imelda Staunton—who starred in the first two Downton Abbey films as Lady Maud Bagshaw—was asked by the show’s host, Zoe Ball, if there is another Downton Abbey film on the horizon. The Crown star answered, “There will be the final film. There you go.”

“Wow, that’s pretty huge. I hope we haven’t got you in trouble,” Ball jokingly replied. And if that wasn’t enough, Staunton gave the most *badass* response yet: “I don’t care.”

Yup, you read that right: Downton Abbey is coming back for a third and final movie. According to an exclusive report by The Sun, the upcoming film will start filming this summer (!!) and will premiere in early 2025.

The outlet also reported that Oscar-nominated actor Paul Giamatti is set to reprise his role as Harold Levinson. In case you didn’t know, Giamatti made a special appearance in the Downton Abbey Christmas special, which aired on television in 2013.

Downton Abbey aired on ITV for six seasons, ultimately coming to an end in 2015. However, fans eagerly wanted the story to continue, which resulted in two additional movies: Downton Abbey (2019) and Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022).

Set in the early 20th century, the British drama series (as well as the film franchise) follows the Crawley family and their servants residing in an Edwardian country house in England. The show received relatively good reviews, with an 87 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.7/10 rating on IMDb

We. Are. So. Excited.
