The trailer introduces viewers to the comedic storyline and main characters (DiCaprio and Lawrence), who are tasked with informing everyone about the comet. The clip opens on DiCaprio hyperventilating in a bathroom as he continually repeats, “You’re here now.”
Of course, his mini pep talk doesn’t do him any good. “Your breathing is stressing me out,” Jonah Hill says in the clip. DiCaprio replies, “This will affect the entire planet.” To which Hill responds, “I know. But it’s, like, so stressful.”
As you can imagine, no one is taking the comet seriously. “You know how many ‘the world is ending’ meetings we’ve had?” Meryl Streep explains.
Well, except for DiCaprio and Lawrence, who are preparing for the inevitable. “I’ll get two more glasses of white wine,” Lawrence says. “And I don’t need the judge-y face.”
Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Don’t Look Up tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.”
Other cast members include Rob Morgan, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis, Tomer Sisley and Cate Blanchett.
Don’t Look Up will hit select theaters on December 10, followed by a Netflix premiere on December 24 (just in time for holiday break).
