I know what I'm watching tonight

Well, it seems like Netflix users better hurry up if they want to catch a glimpse of Denzel Washington's hit action thriller. The A-list star's film previously sat at number seven of the top ten movies list on Netflix (exactly one month after the star’s serial killer flick, The Little Things, claimed the number one spot on the streaming platform).

But now, in just four days, The Equalizer (which is one of my fave movies starring the longtime actor, btw) will be departing the streaming platform for good. The 2014 dark thriller is the first installment in the Equalizer movie franchise and centers around a retired CIA operative named Robert McCall (Washington), who resorts to his old ways when he tries to save a sex worker (Chloë Grace Moretz) who is being controlled by violent Russian mobsters.

While The Equalizer received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, the movie grossed $192.3 million worldwide at the box office. The film is followed by two sequels: The Equalizer 2 (2018) and The Equalizer 3 (2023).

And those who were hoping to see Washington in Equalizer 4 should not hold their breath. Back in October 2023, the film’s director, Antoine Fuqua, sat down with Empire and revealed that Equalizer 3 would be the actor’s last.

While Fuqua believes that the 69-year-old actor has already bid a final farewell to the role of Robert McCall, he told the outlet, “I don’t want to say he’s found happiness, and I don’t want to give it all away, but he meets someone lovely, he’s in a lovely town and he seems to be at peace.” He also added, “That seems to be a good place to stop.”

Only four days left to see Denzel in this action thriller? Queue it up!
