It’s no secret that Demi Moore has an uncanny ability to tap into every character she plays (have you *seen* her latest project?). Although her extensive resume is filled with award-winning performances, the 62-year-old actress admitted that the 1990 film Ghost was one of her hardest roles to date.
Demi Moore Felt Overwhelmed by the Script for This Iconic ’90s Role
"Whenever we have to be vulnerable is not easy"
During an appearance on “Hot Ones,” Moore shared never-before-heard details about her initial reaction to the Ghost script. She said, “Ghost scared the crap out of me.”
Moore revealed that the vulnerable subject matter deeply affected her on a personal level. “To be such a young person dealing with loss of your partner, in reading the script, I was so overwhelmed at the kind of grief that I was going to have to tap into,” she continued.
Despite the emotional turmoil, Moore admitted that the movie “helped me get over a hurdle of my own.” She said, “Emotionally, whenever we have to be vulnerable is not easy.”
While discussing new satirical horror film The Substance, Moore revealed that both the 2024 film and Ghost were “worth the risk.” She added, “It had so many different genres mixed together. Truly, I thought, this could either be amazing or a f***ing disaster. And, either way, it’s like usually the kind of juice that says, ‘Step in, take the risk, roll the dice, let’s see what happens.’”
Moore received a Golden Globe nomination for Ghost, so I’d say it was definitely worth the risk. Perhaps she’ll snag her first-ever Oscar nom for The Substance?
