‘Outer Banks’ Star Chase Stokes Originally Auditioned for This Character in ‘Stranger Things’

We all know Chase Stokes for playing the charismatic leader of the Pogues in the Netflix teen drama, Outer Banks. Before he landed the lead role in the popular series, Stokes first auditioned for the hit sci-fi series, Stranger Things, and it went horribly, horribly wrong.

The 30-year-old actor recently attended an exclusive event dedicated to Outer Banks fans in Los Angeles, where he had a chance to chat with Access Hollywood about the new season. (PSA: Season three is now streaming on Netflix.)

During the interview, Stokes shared that he originally auditioned to portray fan-favorite character Steve Harrington, which eventually went to Joe Keery. However, he completely blew the audition, revealing,  “I forgot all the lines and absolutely f*cked up the audition, and I drove eight hours from Atlanta back to Orlando regretting every moment of my life on that.”

Even though Stokes didn’t land the role he wanted in Stranger Things, he was able to get a *very* small cameo in the first season of the show. After putting on our detective hats and scouring the actor’s IMDb page, we discovered that he played a character named Reed and made a brief appearance in episode six.

Stokes and the rest of his cast members, however, have made their grand return in the latest installment of Outer Banks. The third season picks up right where the previous one left off, where we last saw the Pogues stranded on a deserted island. In our review, we called out the new season for being a “thrilling watch” with a bunch of exciting “twists and turns.”

See, Chase? Everything worked out for the best.
