In season one of The Night Agent, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) goes from manning an emergency phone in the White House to getting wrapped up in a massive government conspiracy. By the season's finale, he emerges as an action hero who not only prevents a disaster, but gets promoted to a Night Agent, which means we'll get to see even more top-secret missions and high-stakes drama in season two. Even better, the new episodes will feature several new cast members.

Creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan said in a statement, "To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on season two to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans."

New episodes of the action thriller will hit Netflix on January 23. (Oh, and did I mention that season three has already been confirmed?) But for now, I'm highlighting the talented cast of The Night Agent season two, from Pitch Perfect star Brittany Snow to The Flash alum Teddy Sears.

Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland
Christopher Saunders/Netflix

1. Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "The Call"
  • What else he's been in: Super 8, The Kings of Summer, Hillbilly Elegy

Basso has been gracing the small screen since 2007, when he landed a few uncredited roles, but perhaps you recognize him as Adam from Showtime's The Big C or Martin from the sci-fi thriller, Super 8. My personal favorite? When he played Freddie's lookalike in iCarly.

The Missouri native initially wanted to be a professional football player, but he shifted gears after he tried his hand at acting. and by the looks of his most recent projects, including The Strangers: Chapter 1Trigger Warning and Juror #2, he's got an affinity for dark and intense thrillers.

While chatting with Entertainment Weekly about his character, Peter, Basso said, "What differentiates him is his motive for being tough. Empathy is the motivating factor for him. He does care for people, and so his aggression is motivated by something that's healthy as opposed to ego or something violent. That's what separates him—he's not trying to hurt anybody, but he's willing to in order to protect what he loves and what is objectively right."

2. Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "The Call"
  • What else she's been in: Sweet Tooth, Mr. Corman, The New Legends of Monkey

Even before the New Zealand native earned her Bachelor's degree in Drama and Psychology from the University of Auckland, she scored a few acting gigs. These include The Blue Rose, The Brokenwood Mysteries and Filthy Rich. However, she's best known for The New Legends of Monkey.

The actress served as an associate producer on the New Zealand miniseries, The Panthers, before joining the cast of The Nigh Agent. Also, she has an upcoming AppleTV+ series called Chief of War, which will star Jason Momoa.

Fun fact: Buchanan's role as the bold tech entrepreneur on The Night Agent marked her first in a North American production. She told MovieWeb, "I auditioned back home in New Zealand, and then my manager was like, 'Oh, they like you. They want to see you again.' And reading more of the scripts and looking into the book, it was just something that I've never done before. So I was really excited to do it."

3. Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "The Call"
  • What else she's been in: Back in Action, Ten Percent, Upgraded

The British star had a modeling career before she pivoted to acting. After taking classes at the Identity School of Acting, she went on to appear in titles like Game of Thrones, Death in Paradise, Black Mirror and Ten Percent. Fans can also expect to see the actress in Cameron Diaz's upcoming film, Back in Action.

In 2024, Evans-Akingbola was nominated for a BAFTA Emerging Talent Award for co-directing the documentary Untold Stories: Hair on Set. In response to the nomination, she wrote on Instagram, "Thank you @bafta for this incredible honor. We are so excited to be nominated in this category. So many people were so instrumental in making this a possibility."

In The Night Agent, Evans-Akingbola plays a determined secret service agent who wants to make her mark in a male-dominated field, and she'll be back in season two. (FYI, she is currently engaged to fellow actor Curtis Lum—who also appeared in season one of The Night Agent as Cisco Jenkins.)

Since then, she's been taking Hollywood by storm, and she has quite a few accolades, including a Hollywood Film Festival Award and two Teen Choice Awards. She'll be hitting the small screen later this month as Peter’s partner and mentor in The Night Agent, and she is also set to portray Sophie O'Neil on the upcoming Starz series, The Hunting Wives.

He was terrifying as the villainous Hunter Zolomon on The Flash, and he shined as Richard on TNT's Raising the Bar, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sears has also appeared in the Law & Order franchise, American Horror Story, Masters of Sex, Chicago Fire, Mad Men and Blue Bloods—just to name a few. So, I can see why he's cast as Warren, a suspicious high-level intelligence officer.

The D.C. native studied business management at the University of Virginia, but he switched gears after landing a two-year contract role on the popular soap, One Life to Live.

cast night agent amanda warren

6. Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver

Guys, don't sleep on Warren, because she boasts an impressive list of acting credits. I'm talking Jessica Jones, The Good Wife, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS: New Orleans, This Is Us, Power, Black Mirror and more. She also starred alongside Denzel Washington in the Oscar-nominated Roman J. Israel, Esq., and her performance didn't disappoint.

On The Night Agent, Warren will play Catherine, a whip-smart leader who trains and oversees the Night Agents. Unfortunately for her, earning Peter's trust will be a challenge, due to his experiences with betrayal in season one.

Malarkey has also appeared in The Oath, Westworld, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Quantum Leap and more recently, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Per Tudum, Malarkey will portray Markus in the second season of The Night Agent. He's "a trained military leader loyal to his dictator uncle who was recently convicted in the Hague of war crimes."
