This Brand-New Thriller Is the #1 Movie Just 1 Day After Hitting Netflix

First, it was Cheer. And now, Brazen is climbing up the Netflix charts.

The brand-new movie just premiered on the streaming service yesterday. It didn’t take long for Brazen to claim the number one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched films. (It’s currently ranked ahead of The Colony, Don’t Look Up and Just Go with It.)

Brazen (which is based on Nora Roberts’s 1988 novel, Brazen Virtue) is pretty much a cross between a cop drama and a cheesy Lifetime movie. The story follows a mystery writer named Grace (Alyssa Milano), who returns to her hometown to visit her sister, Kathleen (Emilie Ullerup). While there, her sister is tragically murdered.

Although the police immediately jump on the case, Grace ignores their instructions and uses her expertise to launch her own investigation, even if family secrets are exposed in the process.

In addition to Milano and Ullerup, the movie also stars Sam Page (Ed), Malachi Weir (Ben), Matthew Finlan (Jerald), Alison Araya (Captain Rivera), Colleen Wheeler (Senator Baxter), David Lewis (Jonathan), Daniel Diemer (Rand), Barry W. Levy (Paul), Lossen Chambers (Stacey) and Aaron Paul Stewart (Billy). Brazen was directed by Monika Mitchell (Ties That Bind), while Edithe Swensen (Charmed), Donald Martin (Queen Bees) and Suzette Couture (Conspiracy of Silence) wrote the screenplay.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Alyssa Milano finds secrets, danger and romance in this thriller based on a novel by bestselling author Nora Roberts.”
