Here's a First Look At Brandy Playing Cinderella Again in the New ‘Descendants’ Movie (with Special Guest Prince Charming)

It’s already been 25 years (yup, that long) since Brandy graced our television screens as the first Black Cinderella in 1997’s Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. But now, the singer and actress will be stepping back into those shiny glass slippers once more.

Brandy will reprise her role as Cinderella in the newest installment in the Descendant franchise, The Rise of Red, and we just got a first look of her on set—along with Paolo Montalban, who played Prince Charming in the '90s flick.

The franchise's official instagram account shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the royal couple and millennials are going off in the comment section. They captioned the post, "A royal occasion. ✨ King Charming (@itspaolomontalban) and Cinderella (@brandy) have joined the upcoming Original movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red!"

In the clip, Brandy and Montalban introduce themselves to the camera before we catch a wide shot of her stunning blue gown, dazzling crown and a long blue fishtail braid. The duo also posed for a photo and the video ends with an emotional Montalban thanking Brandy. We're not crying, you are.

Per the official press release, the story follows Chloe (Malia Baker), the daughter of Cinderella/Prince Charming and Red (Kylie Cantrall), the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, as they return to the land of Auradon. When “unexpected chaos” occurs during a celebration, they must travel back in time and stop the event that would lead to “grave consequences.”

Cantrall, Baker and Brandy will be joined by many stars, who've been a part of the Descendant franchise, including China Anne McClain, Dara Reneé, Ruby Rose Turner and more.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella is a fairytale remake that follows the making of a princess. The groundbreaking film was the first to feature a young Black actress playing the role of Cinderella. The talented ensemble cast featured so many big names, including the late Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber and Jason Alexander.

While there's still no set date for the Disney+ exclusive flick, we're excited see Brandy and Paolo on screen together once again.
