Netflix’s New #1 Movie ‘Blood Red Sky’ Is Like ‘Flightplan’ But with an Intense, Supernatural Twist

This brand-new Netflix movie will have you on the edge of your seat couch.

The streaming service recently debuted Blood Red Sky, which is pretty much a cross between Flightplan and The Flight Attendant. The English-German suspense film has already claimed the number one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies, dethroning the Twilight saga after an impressive reign.

Blood Red Sky (AKA Translatlantic 473) tells the story of a woman named Nadja (Peri Baumeister), who is battling an unknown illness. She’s forced to fight for her and her son’s survival when a group of terrorists make it their mission to hijack their flight.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen…boys and girls,” someone says over the plane’s intercom. “As you can see, we have control of the plane. Our one demand is strictly monetary.”

Although she swore to never reveal her supernatural secret, she is left with no choice but to unleash the dark force on her enemies. Dun dun dunnn.

In addition to Baumeister, the movie also stars Graham McTavish (Col. Alan Drummond), Dominic Purcell (Berg), Chidi Ajufo (Curtiz), Roland Møller (Karl), Alexander Scheer (Eightball), Rebecca Dyson-Smith (Sergeant Karen Brown, Leonie Brill (Julia), Gordon Brown (Bill), Roy McCrerey (Dr. Halvorsen) and Kais Setti (Farid).

Blood Red Sky was directed by Peter Thorwarth (The Wave), who also wrote the screenplay alongside Stefan Holtz (Kiss me Kismet).

The official synopsis reads, “A woman with a mysterious illness is forced into action when a group of terrorists attempt to hijack a transatlantic overnight flight. In order to protect her son, she will have to reveal a dark secret, and unleash the inner monster she has fought to hide.”
