Whatever you do, don’t say his name three times.

Last week, the official trailer for the highly anticipated Beetlejuice 2 dropped, and let’s just say it was filled with so many easter eggs that OG fans will certainly get a kick out of. The one-minute teaser begins with Delia (Catherine O’Hara), Lydia (Winona Ryder) and Astrid (newcomer Jenna Ortega) attending a funeral in their black ensembles.

After Astrid stumbles upon The Maitlands (aka the small model town of Winter River) in the attic of the Deetz family home, she unknowingly releases Beetlejuice (played by Michael Keaton) from the afterlife. When Lydia discovers what her daughter has done, she stares in horror at the sinister spirit, who says with a smile: “The juice is loose.”

From the return of beloved characters to a rendition of Day-O’s “Banana Boat Song,” Beetlejuice 2 is bringing old and new fans back to the world they were first introduced to in the 1988 original film.

Aside from Ortega joining the latest installment in the Beetlejuice franchise, the star-studded cast will also feature a slew of new faces, including Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Burn Gorman.

After filming wrapped for the sequel, director Tim Burton sat down with People in November 2023 and revealed that he “really enjoyed” making Beetlejuice 2. “On this last one, Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it,” he told the outlet. “I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

Be sure to mark your calendars: Beetlejuice 2 premieres in theaters on September 6, 2024.
