Please, say it isn't so...

Season three of And Just Like That, the Sex and the City spinoff, is currently shooting in New York, and fans are freaking out over on-set paparazzi photos showing key cast members attending what appears to be a funeral.

In the shots, you can see the show's main characters (including Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, Aiden and Harry) all dressed in black. Also visible in the photos are Seema, Anthony and his Italian love interest Giuseppe.

Viewers will remember that in the first season of And Just Like That, Carrie and crew attended Big's funeral after he died unexpectedly from a heart attack. And judging by this new set of behind-the-scenes pics, it seems as though our favorite New Yorkers are set to attend another funeral in season three.

Fans are already buzzing about what these photos mean and dying (excuse the pun) to know—whose funeral is it? Here are some of the most compelling theories:

1. Stanford Blatch

One prevailing theory amongst fans is that it’s the funeral for Carrie's dear friend Stanford Blatch, played by Willie Garson. Garson tragically died of pancreatic cancer during the filming of the first season in 2021. On the show, his character has relocated to Japan. Giving him a funeral scene in the new season could be a fitting tribute to the actor's death.

2. Samantha Jones

While Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha Jones (and has notably been missing from the show) did make a cameo at the end of season two, the actress recently confirmed on X that she will not be returning to the series. Responding to a user's suggestion that Samantha Jones would be coming back to the show, Cattrall set the record straight by replying: "Aw that’s so kind but I’m not." Then again, a funeral scene wouldn't necessarily require the actress to make an appearance...

3. Steve Brady

Actor David Eigenberg, who plays Steve, is notably missing from the photos, leading some to believe that it is in fact his funeral. And considering that his nearest and dearest (including his BFF and business partner Aiden) are in attendance, then this theory may hold up. A fan-favorite character, killing off Steve would definitely devastate viewers.

4. Che Diaz

Carrie's former podcast colleague and Miranda's former flame, Che Diaz has been a divisive character throughout the show. As such, many fans think that the showrunners have decided to get rid of her once and for all (at the end of season two, Miranda and Che break up and the former comedian starts to work in an animal shelter). Considering that the actor who plays them, Sara Ramírez, has confirmed they won't be returning for season three, this theory might just be one of the most plausible ones yet.

5. And Then There Are the Totally Out-There Theories

Maybe it's not a funeral at all but a wedding! (Unlikely since black doesn't exactly scream matrimony but then again, actress Sarah Jessica Parker did don the dark shade for her real-life nuptials to Matthew Broderick.)

Another bonkers theory? That it's for Aiden's son, Wyatt. Fans will remember that at the end of season two, Aidan put his and Carrie's relationship on pause so that he could focus on his role as a father. Wyatt was in an accident, and Aidan then told Carrie, "The only thing that I love more than I love you is my boys. I made a commitment that I won't lose you again and I won't. Just gimme some time."

So, which theory is the right one? Unfortunately for us, we'll have to wait until 2025 to find out...
