Netflix’s ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ Is Like a Cross Between ‘The Polar Express’ and ‘The Christmas Chronicles’

Step aside, The Christmas Chronicles, because there’s a brand-new holiday movie coming to town.

Introducing A Boy Called Christmas, which is set to hit Netflix on November 24 (the day before Thanksgiving). The streaming service recently dropped the first official trailer, which is pretty much a cross between The Christmas Chronicles and The Polar Express.

The movie follows a boy named Nikolas (played by Henry Lawfull), who embarks on a thrilling adventure to find a magical town called Elfhelm. “It’s a dangerous journey to Elfhelm,” Nikolas says in the clip. “Under the moon, past the sleeping giants, up the pointy mountain. We’ll get there. I know we will.”

However, there’s a catch: “No humans can ever be brought in,” someone adds.

The plot might seem familiar because it’s a reimagining of the story of Father Christmas, but it’s filled with more than enough laughs to entertain the entire family.

In addition to Lawfull, A Boy Called Christmas also stars Jim Broadbent (Father Vodell), Zoe Colletti (The Truth Pixie), Sally Hawkins (Mother Something), Michiel Huisman (Joel), Toby Jones (Father Topo), Maggie Smith (Aunt Ruth), Rune Temte (Anders), Indica Watson (Little Noosh), Kristen Wiig (Aunt Carlotta), Rishi Kuppa (Little Kip) and the voice of Stephen Merchant (Miika the Mouse).

A Boy Called Christmas is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House). Although the story is based on the namesake book by Matt Haig, Kenan also wrote the screenplay alongside Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again).

Guess Christmas is coming early after all.
