Things we never thought we'd say: We really (like, really) want a copy of the 2016 Pirelli calendar. The Italian car company's annual ode to beauty is typically full of naked (or nearly naked) models who look nothing like us. This year, though, Pirelli took the calendar in another direction by putting famed photographer Annie Leibovitz behind the camera. The result: Portraits of 12 accomplished women that are strong, anything but cookie-cutter and incredibly beautiful. Here, a few of our favorites.

Serena Williams
No words. Only praise hands emojis.
Ava Duvernay
And now onto the clothed ladies. With 2014's Selma, director DuVernay became the first black woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for directing and the first black woman director to have a film nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Oh, and the pants she's wearing in this shot are her favorites--and cost $20.
Fran Lebowitz
Writer and cultural commentator Lebowitz thought she was being pranked when she was approached about being featured, at age 65, in the calendar. She also rocks a suit better than the majority of dudes we know.
Tavi Gevinson
Writer and actress Gevinson achieved notoriety at the ripe old age of 12 with her fashion blog Style Rookie. Seven years later she's the founding editor of Rookie magazine, a more pop culture-focused publication with a feminist bent, all directed toward an audience of predominantly teenage girls.
Shirin Neshat
Neshat is an Iranian-born artist whose work addresses the social, political and psychological dimensions of women's experiences in contemporary Islamic societies. Respect.
