If I had to describe the perfume in three words, they would be sexy, rich and luxurious. It felt like stepping into a five-star hotel or putting on a very fashionable outfit. I was honestly shocked that this is Taylor’s go-to perfume. For some reason, I assumed the singer would go for sweeter or more floral fragrances. But then I remembered her albums like folklore and evermore, so I retract my previous statement. Also going back to my sexy comment, the Reputation singer has been rocking a revamped wardrobe as of late, so it only makes sense to have a perfume that matches the aesthetic.
At first sniff, I was immediately hit with ylang-ylang before discovering the sandalwood not far behind. I usually go for warm notes—I’m a vanilla/musk kind of gal—so I (but mostly my nose) was happy to be wearing this fragrance for the rest of the day. Since it’s an eau de parfum, the concentration should last five to eight hours, and the scent definitely lasted on my skin longer than expected. Even when I washed my hands, I still found the scent lingering on my wrists. I usually do the method of applying lotion (or Vaseline) across my body and spraying on fragrance so it can last longer throughout the day. But I was surprised that I didn’t need to do much layering to wear the scent.
Once it settled, I smelled the cinnamon bark oil and sandalwood peeking through and it was a nice transition toward a night out scent. It’s definitely subtle, so I wouldn’t mind spraying it twice along my key areas like my inner wrists, elbows, legs and neck. It also does a great job at lingering on my clothes.
The Bottom Line: Did Taylor Swift Find the Best Perfume on the Market?
I can definitely see why the “Fearless” singer likes this perfume. It’s a classic scent that’s been around for 14 years and continues to be a popular pick. You don’t have to be a huge Swiftie to enjoy the boldness of the fragrance. It leaves a warm scent behind that’s soft and cozy, especially during the winter months ahead. (I also wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a total Travis magnet these days.)
The bottle comes in two sizes—1 and 1.7 oz—and the price tag is a bit steep. I mean it is a high-end perfume after all, so expect to drop at least $195 (or $300) on this Tom Ford perfume. Do I say it’s worth it? Absolutely. Are there also dupes with less of a hit to the wallet? Of course. But the Santal Blush perfume definitely made quite an impression that I’m ready to get into my own Reputation era.
