Rewind to last year when wearing face masks became the norm. Not only did they require me to rethink what I grabbed when I (rarely) left the house, but they also forced me to reevaluate my skincare routine. I went from trying everything to being very selective on what I put on my face because with the added friction, breakouts and irritation were an unwelcome side effect. My skin appreciates the new simplicity.

Now, I could go on forever about Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Mask and Lip Butter Balm, so I was excited to learn they had a new addition to the family—Summer Fridays Cloud Dew moisturizer. It was perfect timing since I’d been searching for a new moisturizer that didn’t feel heavy on my skin the minute I put on a mask.

Let’s talk packaging: It’s very minimal and very chic (which is code for it being the perfect centerpiece to those skincare Insta pics I love). When I opened the box, I learned something about myself: that I could get this excited over a tiny spoon (the one they include so you can scoop product without putting your fingers in the jar). I hadn’t even put the Cloud Dew on my face, and yet, I was already giving it major brownie points for the packaging alone.

But aside from being a part of the tiny spoons club, I did go into it with a slight bit of skepticism. See, I’m secretly anti-gel moisturizers. Formulas I’ve tried in the past usually don’t provide enough lasting hydration and protection for me. But this one was a gel-cream combo, giving it a richer consistency that made me more optimistic as I began massaging it onto my face.

It didn’t feel sticky or thick, and it glided on with ease. It was just as lightweight as promised. I noticed right away that the oil-free cream was pumping life back into my dry skin, thanks to the hyaluronic acid component. It has not one, but three types of the ingredient to make the moisturizer absorb as effectively as possible.

Aside from HA, it also contains amino acids to support the skin’s elasticity and pineapple enzymes to smooth, soften and even out tone. This blend has refreshed my skin even on the coldest days. I will say, I didn’t see much dewiness after use, but I blame that on being indoors all the time and probably needing to add a brightening serum to my regimen. Can I also point out how there’s just a subtle (emphasize on subtle) scent? It’s not overpowering and makes it the perfect option for people with sensitive skin like me.

A minor downside is that it’s pricey for my taste. But given that the brand really pulled out all the stops, especially when I was losing hope on ever finding a product that my skin (and all skin types for that matter) could rely on, it’s already become my go-to. So excuse me while I bask in the bounce of the cloud dew.
