Ah, spring. The season to give our closets a total refresh, clean the house from top to toe, and  contemplate a new fresh hair color—so why not try a fresh cut, too? I asked celebrity hairstylists to share their predictions for the coolest spring hair trends, from ‘Fairy Waves’ to the ‘Jellyfish Haircut.’ All you need to do is bookmark your favorite and get pumped for the season ahead.

1. Luxe Bob

If you think bobs are staying behind in winter, the luxe version is proving us wrong. The buzzy cut features a deep side part, internal layers and a chin-length that calls for the season of new beginnings. “The luxe bob provides a fresh, stylish look that's both easy to maintain and attention-grabbing. As temperatures rise, shorter styles become more appealing for their light, breathable feel. It strikes the perfect balance between sleek elegance and effortless texture, making it versatile for any occasion,” she shares. If you want to style this look, the expert suggests prepping with a smoothing serum before using a flat brush and blow dryer for a sleek finish. Then, follow up with a flat iron and a shine spray for the ultimate glass hair effect.

2. Fairy Waves

Remember crimped hair? *shudders* Well, this latest trend is taking a subtle approach that millennials will actually appreciate. Bellemare predicts fairy waves are going to be huge for spring, with celebs like Zendaya to Lindsay Lohan already sporting the style. “They are delicate, whimsical waves that strike the perfect balance between tousled curls and subtle crimping. Unlike structured curls, fairy waves feature soft definition with natural movement for a dreamy, airy texture,” she explains. The key here is using a flat iron, triple-barrel waver or large curling wand to create soft bends throughout. Bellemare suggests working in small sections and alternating the direction for a natural finish. She adds, “I also like to prep the hair with a light texturizing spray or mousse for added volume and grip, then finish with a dry oil or shine mist to make the hair look shiny. I always use my fingers or a wide-tooth comb to tousle the waves rather than brush the waves out completely.”

3. Old Money Bob

Believe it or not, ‘Old Money Bob’ actually made the list last year, so it’s definitely a style you should keep your eye on again. “For those who love a classic, the old money bob is polished and refined, and typically falls at chin length for a sophisticated feel,” says Bellemare. “The best part about this trend is that there’s a bob for everyone. Whether you want something sleek and structured or tousled and undone, stylists can tailor the cut to your features by adding layers for volume, adjusting length to flatter your jawline or incorporating a razor finish for a lightweight, airy feel.”

4. Glass Hair

Glass hair made a huge comeback in 2024, and it’s not losing its popularity come March. “It will be popular for spring since it’s low-maintenance and easy to achieve. Hair can become weak and dry in the winter, so spring is the perfect time to let your hair down, with a focus on hydrated, healthy and shiny hair,” says Cardenas. To achieve glass hair, the stylist recommends prepping your hair with a leave-in conditioner or shine-boosting heat protectant (like Color Wow) before blow drying with a ceramic or boar-bristle brush. He adds, “It’s important to use a nozzle attachment to direct airflow and smooth each strand until it’s super straight and frizz-free. Then use a flat iron to lock in smoothness and apply a shine serum or hair oil for the super-sleek, light-reflective look.”

5. The Modern Rachel

FYI: The c-cut hairstyle is the 2025 version of the iconic Rachel haircut and Cardenas believes it’s going to be the most-requested look for spring. “It’s a voluminous shoulder-length haircut that incorporates tons of face-framing layers, which are quite choppy and curved inward,” he says. “This cut is a fun way to embrace a shorter style that flatters all face shapes. Although it requires some effort when styling, it has a very carefree look—very on trend for the spring season.” For styling, simply use a texturizing spray for volume and accentuate the layers, as well as blow dry ends for the curved finish.

6. Square Bob

Another haircut making headlines is the square bob, a chin-length style that was spotted at Milan Fashion Week. “The square bob is defined by its very blunt ends and sleek, straightened style. It looks truly effortless—as if you decided to cut your hair yourself! It’s also trendy and really elevates any spring look,” shares Cardenas. Once you get your new haircut, rely on a blow dryer (or flat iron) and a smoothing serum to prevent frizz and have a polished bob in your wake.

7. Jellyfish Haircut

I noticed the surge in the jellyfish haircut back in 2023, and it recently made an appearance at the 67th annual Grammys from Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish—so get ready to see it even more. Also known as the Hime cut, it combines the styling techniques of a blunt bob and a mullet. Hairstylist and SVP of global artistry at Aveda Antoinette Beenders says the star fringe helps frame the face and emphasizes your unique face shape. “A stylist will cut the hair straight across without layering. It can show off sleekness for straight hair, while adding volume for wavy and curly textures,” says Beenders. In regards to styling, a leave-in treatment is a great way to tame frizz and add shine.

8. Mia Farrow Crop

Pixie haircuts are the new wave of 2025 and Emma Stone’s latest chop is proof. “The short crop is also known as the Mia Farrow crop, which she made popular in the ‘90s. It’s a timeless and edgy look that showcases a short, textured haircut with an effortless androgynous vibe. It involves cutting hair close to the scalp, usually in two to three inch layers on top and tapered around the ears, adding texture using a razor of thinning scissors,” explains Beenders. The good news is it doesn’t require much styling, but a texturizing creme can add softness and smooth down some flyaways through the upcoming months.

9. The Shag

The ‘70s hairstyle is getting revamped for the 21st century, with choppy layers and textured ends for an undone, chic look. As Danielle Keasling, celebrity hairstylist and Ulta Beauty pro-team member, tells me, “This cut is all about volume, movement, and effortless cool. To achieve the modern shag look, a stylist strategically cuts varying lengths of layers throughout the hair, focusing on creating texture and volume. They work with the natural movement of the hair to make it an easy, go-to style.” All you’ll need is a mousse for a light hold and a diffuser to create volume and add definition to your tousled style.

10. Adorned Braids

Keasling spotted adorned braids all over Fashion Week, marking a must-have accessory for spring. “It takes traditional braided hairstyles to the next level by incorporating accessories such as beads, rings and threads for a personalized touch,” she says. Whether you’re rocking box braids, cornrows or any protective style, embellishments can take it up a notch for the warm weather. Expert’s tip: “Use moisturizing spray and scalp oil to keep your look fresh, while preventing frizz and keeping the scalp healthy.”

11. The Charlotte

Forget Carrie, celebrity hairstylist Gregory Patterson anticipates ‘The Charlotte’ is NYC’s coolest hairstyle of the season. “Inspired by Sex and the Citys Charlotte York, the haircut grazes the collarbone with soft and minimal layering. It’s a classic,” he shares. It starts with traditional layering or square layers for a modern look, but what really drives it home is the shine and bounce. Patterson recommends using a 2 inch barrel curling iron (or hot rollers) to curl the ends.
