It’s hard not to be curious about a celebrity’s top beauty recs. But can they always be trusted?

On the latest episode of Take My Money, host Kate Kesselman tested Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez’s Everyday Rose Lip Oil & Liner Duo ($25) to find out if it’s worth the hype. “This liner and lip oil are supposed to be a mauvy-pinkish tone,” she explains.

Gomez describes the combination of these lip products as “easy to throw on, looks good with everything and comfortable enough to wear all day.” But of course, she owns Rare Beauty, so we took her feedback with a grain of salt.

Kesselman tested it herself to see if Gomez’s claims actually held up. “I love that this lip liner turns at the bottom to get longer. I feel like [with] most lip liners, you need to do a sharpener at the top; the sharpener is basically built into the twist at the bottom,” Kesselman adds.

As for the oil, “it definitely applies like a tinted lip oil. It goes on very light, very smooth; it doesn’t feel drying on the lips. I do think it’s more pigmented than other lip oils I’ve dealt with, but I’m really happy with the look of this,” she explains.

Watch the full episode above to find out if the lip duo lived up to her expectations—and how long it held up against eating and talking. Find more details on Selena’s faves below.
