Paris Fashion Week brought lots of fun, fresh looks, including leopard print and fringe. But my eyes zoomed in on the locks that hit the runway and the streets. From French twists to hydro curls, French just know how to look effortlessly chic. Here are the eight hair trends real Parisian women are rocking right now.

6 Gorgeous Trends to Come Out of Paris Fashion Week—Plus 1 I Just Can’t Get Behind

1. Box Bob

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 2024 is the year of the bob. During Paris Fashion Week, I spotted a few interpretations of the Box bob. This popular cut is a modern take on the traditional bob, straying away from the round or tapered look and focusing more on face-framing pieces and thickening the ends. It was everywhere last summer and continues to be a highly requested look at the salon. It can be cut at chin level or slightly longer so your ends are just a few inches above your shoulders. As a stylist previously told me, “It’s not an A-line cut, but it’s a little longer in the front for a French-inspired look, so you can texturize the cut to create movement to the outer layers.”

2. French Bob

Speaking of bobs, this French version snips a few more inches above the jawline that makes it c'est magnifique. This trendy haircut offers movement and volume, especially for those with fine or thin locks. Similar to the fashionistas above, add a fringe to elevate the look and give the illusion of fullness.

3. French Twist

The French twist is another hairstyle that the European city just gets right. The elegant look is a stunner for red carpets and weddings, but can honestly work for any occasion. Hairstylist Becca Raziuddin previously shared with me that all you need is a flat iron and styling cream to start shaping the look. Once you twist your hair inwards, she told me: “The remaining hair in the French twist is teased and placed into an elegant bun on the crown of the head. You can also choose to style this look in different variations. For example, you may want side pieces of hair out or everything slicked back."

4. Birkin Bangs

In 2023, I predicted Birkin bangs were going be *the* fringe style of the year, and it looks like it has continued well into this season. Inspired by British-French actress Jane Birkin, these bangs work to frame the face and accentuate your features. Celebrity Hairstylist Tom Smith explained, “This style of bang—while short and straight enough to make a statement—has softer, choppier characteristics to it that give them an added femininity.” The key here is leaving the ends thin and wispy, while giving more room for texture and dimension around the face.

5. Face-Framing Tendrils

I love a Y2K beauty moment, and face-framing tendrils are the shining star of PFW. Whether guests were rocking it with bubble braids, a low ponytail or the French twist, these chic pieces were everywhere. It’s a small detail, but one simple technique that can elevate any hairstyle. Just take a small section of hair and apply some styling cream (or gel) to define ‘em. You can also use a curling iron to add some shape and body to your tendrils.

6. Hydro Curls

The Hydro Bob was huge this year, but as a curly gal I didn’t really see myself represented…until now. Paris Fashion Week was flooded (no pun intended) with defined curls that look straight from wash day. Similar to the original trend, the style adds definition and enhances your natural texture. Just layer gel and apply hairspray (or texture spray) as soon as you hop out of the shower to maintain the ‘wet look.’

7. Bold Colors

Here’s your sign to try out a bold color. These fashion goers went above and beyond with vibrant hues that surely made them a standout at the shows. A few months ago I spoke to a bunch of stylists, who shared that neon and bright colors are on the rise, from bright magentas to candy apple red. But if you’re not ready to do a full color treatment just yet, I’ve also reported that chunky highlights are going to be just as popular, so maybe it’s time to add a pop of color to your darker locks this season.

8. Slick Back Style

Shows like Dior and Lacoste gave us a hint into the next trendy look: a slick back style. If you’re blessed with long luscious locks, this hairstyle should be on your radar. Guests were spotted with their hair slicked back, which added texture and definition—all thanks to a great amount of gel that they’re probably slathered on their locks. This emerging look also works well for shorter lengths as shown by German model Caroline Daur above.
