When serums and skin care products are a dime a dozen, it can be hard to tell the really good from the meh. So when we noticed Google searches for the Olay Regenerist Regerating Serum were up 120 percent, we had to investigate further.

First, the facts: The moisturizing serum—meant to be the last step in your routine—features a fragrance-free formula and a lightweight gel texture. It’s also packed with amino peptides (to plump fine lines), vitamin E (an antioxidant) and niacinamide (a powerful anti-inflammatory that boosts collagen product). Oh, and it’s only $20 on Amazon.

Scrolling through the reviews, we were pleased to see that the affordable serum could compete with products we’ve seen retail for more than $100. Here’s what one customer said: “This is excellent for many reasons. First off the ingredients: emollients, antioxidants, peptides, niacinamide and vitamin B. The packaging: It’s packaged in such a way that keeps antioxidants stable (anti-aging products packaged in jars destabilize as soon as you open them). The texture: so smooth and could easily run circles around products that are explicitly for priming make up. Smooths the skin while giving it a healthy dose of good, clinically proven anti-aging ingredients. Just pair with sunscreen and you're golden!”

Another reviewer simply said, “This is the only thing I use on my face other than water.” That uptick in Google searches makes sense now.
