Want to know the secret behind how Kate Middleton styles her voluminous loose curls? Then, you’ve come to the right place.

As most royally-obsessed fans know, the Princess of Wales, 41, debuted her new hairstyle for the fall season last month. While attending the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, the royal mom of three personally met and talked to the English rugby players after winning their match against Argentina.

And that’s when we had a chance to see her new ‘do for the first time, which featured a much darker color brown with a stylish middle part, short-cut curtain bangs and loose curls.

Luckily, this chic hairstyle can be recreated with a quick and easy-to-follow hair hack. Michael Van Clarke, a famous hairstylist who styled the late Princess Diana’s hair in the ‘80s, exclusively sat down with People and revealed how Princess Catherine achieved this flattering hairdo.

Clarke shared a list of styling tools one needs to create the same loose curly look. “You need to use large barrelled tongs, flat irons, or—even better—use a no-heat version by wrapping your hair around soft sponge rollers or even a toweling robe belt, which is a technique you see on TikTok a lot! It’s actually very easy to do! It’s basically replicating the old idea of wrapping hair in rags, but it works,” he revealed to the magazine.

For the bangs, the award-winning stylist recommends a tip or two on how to style the fringes, noting they require a “bit more styling maintenance.” Clarke told People, “I would use a dryer and a round brush, but a heated brush may be easier at home. Just be careful not to put too much curl in. This look on the Princess of Wales is subtle—it’s meant to look like it fell naturally like that.”

Just ask fellow hairstylist and royal enthusiast @Bekah & Co., who recreated one of the royal princess’s loose curl hairstyles back in August. To achieve this look, she used a 2-inch curling iron with 16-inch clip-in hair extensions. In the video (see below), the professional hairstylist advised viewers to let the curls cool before brushing them out and to use texture spray to hold.

And take Miranda Holder (@themirandaholder), a celeb stylist who shares fashion and beauty hacks about the royal family. In a video uploaded in September 2022, Holder notes that Middleton has “lustrous thick hair,” which often requires more effort to style. From that info alone, we can see where some of Clarke’s tips and tricks would come into play when styling the mother of three’s hair.

Now we know what hairstyle we’re doing for our next event.
