7 Tricks for Getting Bigger Lips (Without Injections)

Sure, you could Google a plastic surgeon, call to schedule a consultation, drive to the office, pay for someone to inject your lips with a needle, wait four months and then repeat the process all over again. Or you could just try one of these seven tricks on how to get bigger lips. Your call.

Exfoliate Your Lips

Since flakes can make your skin appear flat, a quick DIY scrub works wonders to add volume to your kisser. Besides improving circulation, scaling off dry skin allows for lips to look shinier and more saturated.

Try A Lip-plumping Mask

Our sheet-mask obsession knows no limit, which is why we’re head over heels for these adorable lip masks. Just peel, place on lips and try not to answer any phone calls while you wait 15 minutes for the flower oil, hyaluronic acid (a temporary skin plumper that feels a bit tingly at first), collagen and bitter cherry extract to smooth, prime and round out your pout.

Use A Lip Oil

Like a gloss but with nourishing properties (thanks to mirabelle plum, jojoba, macadamia and hazelnut oils), Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil also helps lips appear fuller by filling in dehydrated lines with moisture and adding shine. It can be used alone, as a lip prep underneath your favorite lipstick or on top of color.

Rock A Red Lip

As for colors, nudes and pinks can wash out your pout, while dark purples and deep browns can draw too much attention to thin lips. Instead, aim for a cherry red that will bounce light and give the optical illusion of a fuller mouth.

If You Do Wear Pastels, Apply Gloss Over The Top

Instead of letting that bubblegum pink wash out your pout, just add a touch of clear gloss to the middle of your bottom lip and right below your cupid’s bow for an automatic plumping affect.

Over-line Your Pout

No matter the lip color, you can always bring out this celebrity makeup-artist tip. Using a shade of liner similar to your natural coloring, draw a tiny bit outside of the area around your cupid’s bow and the middle of your bottom lip. Then, go over and fill in the line with your lip liner and color. Just avoid over-lining your whole mouth (helloooo, Kardashian territory), and you’ll be able to fake it like a pro.

Use Highlighter On Your Cupid’s Bow

Make light-reflecting pigments work to your advantage by applying a strobing stick or highlighter on your cupid’s bow (the little indent at the top of your upper lip) and at the plumpest section of your bottom lip. Voilà: Brigitte Bardot status in less than ten seconds.
