The best haircut for your face shape. The best sunglasses for your face shape. The best eyebrows for your face shape. We’ve read (and written) lots of stories about face shape. But before you go changing your hair and updating your optical wardrobe, make sure you really know what shape your face is, using this quick and easy trick.
The Easiest Way to Determine Your Face Shape
How to determine your face shape
What you need: A mirror and a lip liner you don’t care about.
What you do: Look in the mirror and tell yourself how gorge you are. (That second part isn’t necessary, but it’s a nice reminder.) Next, using the lip liner, trace the outline of your face directly onto the mirror. Look at your outline and decide whether it’s most like a circle, square, oval, heart or rectangle. Whichever one you choose, that’s your face shape.
Why this works: It can be tough to judge the shape of your reflection. By drawing an outline onto a surface, you’re able to take a step back and really analyze which shape is most similar to your face.
Done? Cool. Go forth, get a haircut, buy new sunglasses, shape your brows and bask in the glory of knowing this new and exciting fact about yourself. (And maybe clean your mirror if you have a free sec.)
