Mermaids: What they lack in on-land mobility, they definitely make up for in hair envy. Now, Hilary Duff is living out our childhood dream of becoming a mermaid and she has the long locks to prove it.
The 32-year-old newly-married actress revealed on Instagram that she’s traded in her lob for some brand-new lengthy tresses with a cute selfie.
Before the long weekend, Duff shared her look, writing, “Whoa @riawna how’d you make my hair grow like this over night??? Cool trick cool trick.” LOL, Hilary.
PureWow got the scoop from Riawna Capri, Duff’s longtime hairstylist and co-founder of Nine Zero One Salon in Los Angeles, during a Celebeauty Sit-Down.
Capri broke it down, explaining, “Hilary said, ‘I want mermaid hair!’” So, the celebrity hairstylist did just that and gave her girl some more length (not the multi-colored version of mermaid hair, to be clear.)
“I used Great Length Extensions to make that happen for her,” Capri dished. Then, to make the old and new hair mesh together, Capri said she “Crystal Cashmere-d the extensions before putting them in her hair so her hair looks extra healthy, shiny and smooth.” (This editor, who has previously enjoyed the Crystal Cashmere treatment at Capri’s salon, can confirm the nourishing treatment is a total game-changer on any type of hair.)
After the process was complete, Capri prepped Duff’s locks with Magic Myst ($35) and “styled it in the effortless, mermaid way she wanted!”
The end result, if we do say so ourselves, is totally mermaid-chic.
