Coverage, texture and longevity: There are many factors to consider when choosing a concealer. And because of that, it’s a tricky process, so we thought it made good sense to start by testing the top-rated formulas on the Internet. The seven picks below each have thousands of reviews and no less than a four-star rating. Here’s our honest take on them.
We Tried 7 of the Highest Rated Concealers on the Internet
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
What do our most beauty obsessed friends and makeup minimalists have in common? This highly decorated concealer. (It’s won countless beauty awards since its launch in 2013.) We’re guessing that has something to do with the flexible formula—which gives you equally flattering coverage under your eyes as it does anywhere else on your face.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
If you have dry or (ahem) more mature skin, we (and over 2,000 other reviewers) would whole-heartedly recommend this concealer. With a smooth fluid formula, it has the lightest texture of the bunch, but somehow doesn’t sacrifice on coverage. Apply it under your eyes or around your mouth without fear of it settling into fine lines throughout the day.
Urban Decay ($29)
Tarte Shape Tape
Guys, there’s no question whether this concealer will give you adequate coverage. In fact, it excels in that department. The key, according to our makeup artist pals, is to know exactly how to use it. Tip number one: Use a lot less than you think. A little goes a very long way with this stuff. Tip number two: Blend it immediately before it has a chance to set. Once it dries, it’s there to stay. Tip number three: Skip the setting powder. You won’t need it—trust.
Tarte ($27)
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Anti-aging Concealer
Here are the top two things we noticed about this concealer: It has potent anti-aging ingredients like peptides and hydrolyzed collagen (some of the same powerhouses found in eye creams) and it’s virtually weatherproof. Seriously, we’ve worn it through 97-degree days in muggy subway stations and it hasn’t budged. Don’t believe us? Fellow fans from the southernmost states (aka the hottest and most humid) attest to its staying power in the 4,500-plus reviews online.
IT Cosmetics ($24)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer Treatment
According to a Nielsen study, this drugstore pick was the most popular concealer in the U.S. last year. Lauded for its versatility (many reviewers used it to contour and highlight), the soft spongy tip makes blending a breeze. The fact that it’s only ten dollars...well, now we see why people use it all over their faces.
Maybelline ($10)
Bareminerals Barepro Full Coverage Concealer
A quick Google search yields over 5,000 reviews and 4.5 stars for this newcomer (which is pretty impressive given that it just launched this year). With a texture that can only be described as buttery, it glides on with very little effort and zero tugging. After a few wears, we’d say this works best over any blemishes or redness. The creamy texture is seamless on most parts of your face, but may be a touch too heavy under your eyes (unless you sheer it out with a damp sponge).
BareMinerals ($24)
Cle De Peau Beauté Concealer
Though this guy has fewer reviews than its counterparts, the reviews it does have are pretty compelling. (They ranged from “I’m 38 and it takes away like ten years!” to “For when you need to bring out the big boys this is a must.”) It’s also been a makeup artist and celeb fav for decades because the coverage is—to put it eloquently—no joke. Ed note: The brand just launched another formula that’s a touch lighter than the original. After using it this morning, we predict another cult classic.
