Thank you TikTok for leading me (once again) to a viral product I didn't know I needed. In this case, it's First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Scrub ($30), which came just as my body acne was flaring up and nothing seemed to be working. Even though the "KP" in the product name stands for keratosis pilaris—aka strawberry skin—I still found it super helpful for my body acne. Plus, I was already a big fan of the brand's Ultra Repair Cream, so I didn’t need much convincing to it out. If you’re curious to see if the hype is worth it, here’s my honest review of the buzzy product.

What Is First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Scrub?

The body scrub works to exfoliate and remove dry, rough bumps due to KP and/or strawberry skin. Formulated with glycolic and lactic acid, it improves texture, prevents acne and promotes a healthier skin barrier. While it’s considered a chemical exfoliant, the formula also contains pumice buffing beads (similar to a pumice stone) to smooth down bumps and soften dry areas. The product currently has a huge following online and over 1,000 5-star reviews on Target. One shopper raves, “I have been dealing with KP for years! Years!! 15+ years! I've tried everything from scrubs to creams to chemical exfoliants to various body brushes and scrubbing mitts, etc. I used this ONCE and poof, skin bumps gone.”

My Review of First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Scrub

First Aid Beauty

The Application: The brand recommends wetting the skin before applying the product directly on your targeted areas one to two times a week. So, I followed the directions, and the tested body scrub over the last few weeks. Although I typically use a cloth to exfoliate, I found the Bump Eraser Scrub easy to massage with just my hands. The texture is grainy, thanks to exfoliating pumice beads, but it still spreads evenly on my targeted areas (my back and inner thighs). After some scrubbing motion, I patted the areas dry and applied a moisturizing body lotion.

My Take on the Formula: The formula was quite gentle and soothing on my targeted areas. It is a physical exfoliant, so don’t be surprised with its rough texture—that’s kinda the point. However, it was not chemically irritating for me. (It also doesn’t have much of a scent, which is a huge bonus for sensitive noses out there.)

The Results: I noticed a difference along my inner thighs and lower back after a few weeks of consistent use. My skin felt smoother and softer after showering, which was a very nice confidence boost. While I'm still dealing with hyperpigmentation, the scrub did a great job at brightening the areas just a tad bit (thanks to the glycolic acid) even if that wasn't the main goal of the product. Shoppers note when they stopped using it, they noticed bumps and some dryness coming back, an important reminder to keep up with the new shower routine.

Bottom Line: Does the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Scrub Really Work?

What We Like

  • improves bumps
  • softens skin
  • mild scent

What We Don't Like

  • pricey
  • finicky tube

First Aid Beauty

Although I don’t have KP, the product does a great job combating bumps and blemishes. Some may not like the rough texture, but I personally had no issues with the physical exfoliant. Since it’s also considered a chemical exfoliant, I found it has a creamier consistency similar to chemical exfoliants I’ve used in the past.

My only qualm with the product is the tube design. Once you get to the end, it becomes quite difficult to squeeze out the last drop. First Aid Beauty did make a cheeky video referencing the issue, but they don’t realize that many of us actually do cut the tube open to scrap the last remaining product. It’s also pretty pricey for a body scrub that only comes in 2 and 8 ounces. But a little goes a long way, so don’t be afraid to use at least a dime to quarter size along the skin. Despite the tube, the formula itself did smooth my bumpy skin, added softness and prevented any ingrown hairs, so I call it worth the splurge.

It’s recommended to apply before shaving to give yourself an extra boost of softness. As creator Wendy shares, she applies the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser scrub on her wet skin and rinse, before continuing with her shaving routine. She says, “I shave after I apply it and my skin is just baby smooth afterwards. This will forever be my holy grail.”

Does First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Scrub Work for Ingrown Hairs?

Many customers (myself included) found it did wonders for ingrown hairs, razor bumps and bikini bumps. Since it’s an exfoliator, it aims to smooth bumps and calm skin.
