When it comes to beauty, Korean skincare brands have it down pat with formulations that deliver and feel amazing. Dr. Jart+ is a particular favorite—not just of mine, but the entire internet. You’ve probably heard of the viral Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment, which also happens to be one of PureWow readers’ most purchased skincare products. But newsflash: The Cicapair line isn’t just color correcting Camo Drops and cream. It extends to serums, moisturizers, sheet masks, overnight gel masks, cleansers and lotions. My skin is relatively clear, but I am prone to singular breakouts that tend to linger. Thus, Cicapair’s promise of soothing and reducing redness was tantalizing. Over the course of a month, I tested the core products: Intensive Soothing Repair Cream ($52; $49), Sleepair Intensive Soothing Repair Mask ($45), Intensive Soothing Repair Serum ($51; $54), Intensive Soothing Repair Gel Cream ($52) and So Soothing Treatment ($48), replacing everything in my skincare routine except my toner (Farmacy’s Honey Milk, $34), Qure red light therapy mask ($379) and Amiro R3 Turbo ($340). I evaluated them on our PureWow100 scale, grading on five attributes: value (were the results worth it, given the price?), ease of application, scent, efficacy (did it deliver on what it promised, and how quickly?) and texture for a total score out of 100 points.

What Is the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Line?
Cicapair uses Centella Asiatica extracts as the hero ingredient. The brand claims it aids in reducing redness, soothing the skin and repairing the skin barrier. Does it actually work? Anecdotal evidence aside, which I’ll dive into below, Centella Asiatica (CA)—which Dr. Jart+ also referd to as Tiger Grass—is a well-known medicinal plant that has been in use for over 3,000 years. According to this 2020 review, the ingredient is beneficial in treating skin conditions due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic (cell death) properties. Similarly, this 2020 study affirmed CA’s ability to regulate skin inflammation, and per this 2022 paper, can speed wound healing and stimulate collagen production. TL;DR: It has the potential to work wonders in calming inflammation.
My Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Review
- What it does: soothes redness, repairs skin barrier
I have fairly normal skin, meaning it doesn’t lean dry or oily, but it does have a tendency to be flakey if I use the wrong face wash or moisturizer and then attempt to apply makeup. The Intensive Soothing Repair Cream was a nice balance—creamy but not heavy or oily. It provided adequate hydration and performed beautifully under sunscreen and makeup. The moisturizer doesn’t pill and leaves skin smooth all day. I did notice that the parts of my face that might normally experience redness or irritation were much calmer and even-toned.
- What it does: boost skin barrier repair, instantly reduces redness
This one is a magic little number. The first genius feature is the dropper, which has an automatic pump to dispense a consistent amount of product. When left to my own devices, it’s the Wild West—some days it’s the perfect amount, other days it’s too little and on bad days I’ve dumped half the bottle out. I applied this to my entire face, but at $54 for an ounce, it’s something I might not use gratuitously. (Granted, it’s been about a month and I’ve still got just over half the bottle left.) Spot treatments are in the realm of possibility. Recently, I got a bug bite on my hand, which has turned into a pesky bump that sometimes becomes red and irritated. Putting a drop of the serum on it does the trick, and it stops itching. (The bump has also noticeably reduced in size.)
- What it does: spot treats skin with concentrated dose of Cica 3 Complex
You can apply this to your entire face, but I’ve been testing it as a spot treatment. The tube is more conducive to this method, as the neck is incredibly narrow. In short: I’m impressed. The gel is cool and nearly odorless—with only a faint trace of herb/peppermint. But it works overtime to eliminate redness and inflammation. A few weeks ago I had a stubborn little recurring spot on my cheek that typically would stay for weeks, but within seven days of consistently applying the treatment twice daily, it had reduced in size by about 70 percent and the discoloration is, for the most part, neutralized, so it looks like a freckle. Then, I had recently felt the skin between my eyebrows become suspiciously bumpy—harbingers of an impending breakout—but after a couple days of dabbing the So Soothing Treatment on the area, it seems I’ll avoid it, or at the very least have something much less severe pop up.

The Bottom Line
The Cicapair line isn’t cheap, with the treatments all hovering somewhere around the $50 mark. Stocking up on my top three picks, you’re looking at a cool $150, minimum. But were they effective? Hell yeah. Of all the products I have slathered on my face in the last two years on the job, none have healed blemishes so quickly or kept my complexion calm so consistently. (And I say this confidently, because I always use samples to the last drop to see how they perform over the long haul.) So here’s the deal. I think that if it’s within your budget and redness/inflammation are big concerns for you—like, you experience this on your entire face—then you really stand to benefit from the entire line. If, on the other hand, you’re more like me and it’s only patches of skin that require treatment from time to time, I think you could still get a lot out of buying just one or two of the products and spot treating. Personally, the serum and So Soothing treatment were my top favorites, and I’ll be keeping them on my vanity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cicapair Worth the Hype?
In an episode of PureWow’s Take My Money, creator Kate Kesselman rates the viral Color Correcting Treatment 95/100 on the PureWow100 scale. Similarly, I have given other products in the Cicapair line an overall rating of 96/100 for their efficacy in addressing redness and inflammation. So, yes, after weeks of testing, we think it’s worth the hype.
What Is Cicapair Good For?
As I covered above, the key ingredient is Centella Asiatica, an herb well-known for its calming properties. The Cicapair line can help treat redness and inflammation on the skin.
Does Tiger Grass Help Rosacea?
According to this 2024 trial,Centella Asiatica, also known as Tiger Grass, can help rosacea, as the results showed that participants experienced less skin dryness and flushing and repaired skin barriers.
Can You Put Makeup Over Cicapair?
Yes, you can put makeup over Cicapair. “[Makeup] goes on really well because of the smooth base the cream created,” Kesselman says of the Color Correcting Treatment. “This is allowing my makeup to go on better than it normally does, because normally I don’t use primer. This is acting as a makeup primer. It’s so smooth.” I will note that I’ve read some find it to be chalky, though, and that when I tried the Camo Drops last year, I found that it could cling to dry patches, so just make sure you’ve adequately moisturized beforehand.
As for the skincare products, they hold up nicely as well, whether you’re doing liquid or powder foundation (I’ve done both), and layering on a full face with blush, concealer, contour, etc. I didn’t experience any drying, flaking or patchiness.
