While Demi Moore is making headlines for winning her first ever Golden Globe for her spectacular role in The Substance, she’s always been a winner for her beauty looks, which she’s been serving since the early ‘80s. And thankfully, she is nothing like the character she plays in the recent thriller, instead continuously advocating for embracing your beauty at any age—she’s 62, for the record. And while she comes from a Hollywood culture that often relies on plastic surgery (no judgment!) she’s always kept her look pretty natural. Whether you’re over 60 (or under), here are five beauty lessons you can learn from Demi Moore.
5 Beauty Lessons All Women Over 60 Can Learn from Demi Moore

1. Embrace The Gray
Although I wasn’t alive when Ghost came out (and I’m pretty sure I only saw it once), I distinctly remember her iconic pixie cut. Moore has sported many hair looks over the last four decades—even going as far as shaving her head for G.I. Jane. But nowadays, the actress has been rocking longer locks. “After I shaved my head, I think I just started to let my hair grow with the idea that you can have long hair if that’s what you want,” she told CBS. “Who says that it’s not okay? And I’ve heard it many times. If I didn’t think I liked how I looked, then I would cut it.”
But aside from her gorgeous straight hair, a hint of gray is starting to peek through. Although Moore admitted to coloring her hair back in 2020, she’s recently been seen rocking her gray roots more and more. And she’s definitely in good company in terms of the movement to embrace the gray (just look at this recent pic of Salma Hayek). So consider this your sign to show off your natural color moving forward.
2. Rosy Cheeks Are the Way to Go
Whether she’s hitting the red carpet or doing a press run, Moore is always sporting rosy cheeks, which helps brighten up her complexion and define her distinct cheekbones. I love this approach for all women, but particularly for the 50+ set, since it provides an instant lift and complements gray hair. I've also noticed that the Empire star often opts for creamy formulas, in order to avoid accentuating fine lines, wrinkles and overall textured skin.
3. Consider a Soft Smokey Eye
In countless interviews, Moore has expressed her minimal approach to makeup and one look that has stayed consistent is her soft smokey eye. Although she prefers just a dab of color on her lids to accentuate her hazel eyes, she's not afraid to go all in with shimmers. And if you're wondering how to pull it off in your 60s, a makeup artist previously told PureWow, it's all about being strategic with your eyeshadow. She shared, "Rather than sweeping a shimmery shadow all over your lids, stick to applying it on the smooth surfaces only—such as along the tear ducts or inner corners of your eyes or directly on the center of the lid. Use a matte shadow everywhere else to draw less attention to any fine lines around your eyes." Want further proof that it works? Just admire Moore's eye look at the 2025 Golden Globes above.
4. Her Skincare Motto: Less Is More
“I think my biggest thing is really that less is more, as it’s much easier to keep a routine going if we keep it simple, so it’s doable,” Moore said at the 2019 Goop Health Summit.
And in a video for Harper’s Bazaar, she even shared her favorite clean and minimal products. She gave thanks to a makeup remover cloth, which she says ‘saved her skin.’ She then moves on to a serum to tighten her skin and a moisturizer, which she massages on her hands before working it all over her face, neck and chest. “I always put it on my hands first. It allows you to be much more gentle with your face and your skin,” she adds. When she has long work days filled with a full face of makeup, she sometimes mixes multiple moisturizers to really replenish her skin.
5. Can't Go Wrong with At-Home Lymphatic Drainage
Moore is no stranger to at-home lymphatic drainage face massage and relies on her Georgia Louise Rose Quartz Stone to lift and sculpt her face, starting at the jawline and working up to her cheekbones. “You work through all the tension in your face. Well, it activates the blood flow in your skin and then kind of moves out all the tension. You’ll see there'll be a lot of blood flow to the skin,” she explained in the Harper’s Bazaar vid. “And when you’re over 50, when you feel like your skin is hitting the floor, this is actually an incredible uplift.”
But if you don’t have a tool on hand, the St. Elmo’s Fire star also said smiling is a great tool, too. “Smiling’s the best free anti-aging secret available.” Here’s to putting her lessons to use in 2025!
