Meghan Markle’s makeup artist, Daniel Martin, is sharing tips on how to look your best on video calls. (And no, it doesn’t involve a full face of makeup.)

Martin (who has done Markle’s makeup on numerous occasions, including her May 2018 wedding) recently sat down for an interview with People Now and shared a series of tricks that will take your Zoom calls to the next level.

The celebrity makeup artist revealed that the key to obtaining a flawless appearance is to do your makeup in front of your computer. That way, you know exactly what you’re working with in terms of lighting, space and angles.

“The best place for you to start is find your source and your place. Find that corner or find the table where you’re going to be, and you can actually do your makeup in your computer,” Martin said. “So, flip up the Zoom app, go into video, and it’ll mirror just like a mirror in your bathroom. You’re able to change and manipulate and cheat your makeup application. It makes doing your makeup so much easier.”

The beauty expert also recommended minimizing your typical makeup routine. For example, Martin suggested mixing a liquid primer with a concealer to achieve lightweight coverage.

“The full-bodied texture of the primer acts as the carrier, so it helps smooth the concealer really seamlessly. It really evens out your skin, but it doesn’t feel like foundation,” he said. And then added, “Elisabeth Moss is a huge fan of this.” Casual.

In addition, Martin revealed that he’ll mix a lip mask with liquid lipstick to create “a really saturated lip gloss.”

“Liquid lipsticks are all the rage, but they tend to be really drying on your lips,” he said. “It gives you that depth of a lipstick, but it gives you the texture of a gloss because that shine is really beautiful under the light.”
