Chrissy Teigen is widely known for her candid tweets, her priceless commentary and her relatable fails. But what you might not realize is that her hair has undergone quite the transformation over the years.
From choppy layers to bold bangs, keep reading for all the details on Chrissy Teigen’s hair evolution.
Teigen first stepped onto the scene in 2009 when she attended the 81st annual Academy Awards as now-husband John Legend’s date. The model sported long dark brown hair, which complemented her slightly-orange tan.
In 2010, Teigen went to the dark side with an all-black hairstyle, which featured loads of layers for dimension.
Every girl has tried bangs at one point in her life, and Teigen is no different. The model attended the 2012 Billboard Music Awards and rocked a blunt set of fringe that appeared to hinder her eyesight.
She eventually transitioned back to what is now considered her signature style, including a side-swept bang and long layers. (We’re totally digging her subtle ombré of caramel highlights.)
After a two-year hiatus, we saw the return of Teigen’s straight-across bangs at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. But this time, she wore the rest of her hair down in a sleek, straight style.

In early 2019, Teigen donned a light brown, medium length haircut, which she styled with soft curls.
Fast-forward to December 2019, and Teigen chopped her hair into a lob (or “long bob”). The model’s hair had choppy layers framing her face, along with platinum blonde highlights.
In July 2020, the model/actress showed off this shorter hairstyle, which was chopped right above her shoulders. Teigen debuted the cut in a quick video on her Instagram Story (screenshot above) and even tagged her hairstylist, Irinel de León, who helped her achieve the fabulous lob. “Short again,” she said in the clip.
She maintained her short hairstyle throughout 2021—but in 2022, she stepped out with her signature long wavy hair (and a growing baby bump).
If her track record is any indication, Teigen will be sporting a new haircut/color very soon.
