Emilia Clarke: Before

She surprised us the first time when she dyed her brown hair platinum blonde (similar to Daenerys).

And she surprised us again with this recent chop (that was inspired by Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow’s matching cuts in the ‘90s.) Tip: Ask your stylist to keep some length in the front so you have more options (i.e., swept over or tucked behind an ear) as it grows out.

But when she traded in her signature blonde to become a redhead this past Valentines Day, we immediately fell in love. Apparently we weren’t the only ones seeing as how flannel hair is one of the biggest trends right now.

Remember this Kate Hudson (aka Andie Andersen)?

Since completely buzzing her long wavy locks off for a role, it’s been fun watching Kate continually switch things up as it grows. We especially liked her coiffed pixie at the Golden Globes this year (which is extra flattering thanks to the contrasting roots and deeper tones around her hairline).

Leighton Meester: Before

As Blair Waldorf, Leighton was quite possibly one of the most memorable brunettes of the past decade.

Which is why it was especially shocking when she went completely platinum. According to Aura Friedman, the stylist behind this major transformation, she chose a softer blonde (read: not as cool-toned) so it wouldn’t overpower Leighton’s features and left some shadow at the roots so it wouldn’t look too stark against her brown eyes.

Jenna Dewan: Before

Over the years we've seen Jenna Dewan gradually cut her hair shorter and shorter.
