"If you're a mom, do you think American beauty standards are impossible?" asks Annabella Daily, a content creator and Nordic mom of three boys living in Connecticut, in a recent Instagram post.

"Nordic beauty standards are completely the opposite," she adds (a statement I happen to agree with—I'm a Swedish mom living in the U.S. and have definitely noticed a much more relaxed and less-is-more approach to beauty back home).

But as Daily explains, she doesn't lean into the Nordic or the American beauty standards. Instead, she opts for a totally French look. And I don't blame her—after all, who wouldn't want to look like the French, aka the epitome of chic?

So how does the entrepreneur and mom-of-three achieve her look française? By going straight to the source itself, of course. Daily explains that on a trip to Paris, she walked into a makeup store and asked the sales person: "Can you make me look like a French mom whose kids always sleep through the night?" (Genius, right?)

And the advice she was given was refreshingly simple: Don't use anything on your eyes except mascara and on your lips, only a bright color. "This will give you a pop and make you look less tired than you are."

Daily has clearly taken note, as she can be seen sporting a bright red lip and minimal makeup in most of her Instagram videos. And moms agree with the no-fuss look, with one commenting: "Literally my only makeup rule is that lips have to be more red than the eyes."

Another one adds: "I don’t know what Nordic beauty standards are, but I love this French Mom look on you." And yet another: "I need this in my life!- signed, a tired mom."

Daily doesn't list her exact makeup brands that she uses, but when it comes to red lipstick, this Chanel number in "Pirate" comes highly rated by users and makeup artists alike. “The packaging makes you feel like you’re treating yourself, and the color is divine,” says makeup artist Megan Lanoux, who works with stars including Julianne Hough and Sienna Miller, adding that she not only uses it on her clientele but it’s also stocked in her own personal makeup bag.

And when it comes to lengthening mascaras, this Glossier pick is the best of the best. “It doesn’t flake and it doesn’t clump. I’m a fan of natural-looking mascara that adds length without looking spidery and this one checks those boxes,” says Katherine Gillen, senior food editor at PureWow.
