This Hotel Is a Dream Come True for Champagne Lovers and, Shockingly, It’s Not in France

If you subscribe to author Hester Browne’s theory about Champagne (namely that you should always keep a bottle of Champagne in the fridge for special occasions, with the special occasion sometimes being that you’ve got a bottle of Champagne in the fridge), then you’ve likely entertained the thought of taking a trip to the land of bubbly itself, Champagne, France. Perhaps you’ve even dreamed of spending your day sipping the good stuff from dawn ’til dusk, chowing down on Champagne-infused treats and falling into that giddy bliss that only Champagne can induce.

Well, as it turns out, you don’t actually have to hop on an international flight to experience one of the best sparkling-wine themed vacations. All you have to do is get yourself to The Ivy Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. That’s right—Baltimore.

Charm City’s sparkling wine scene has been swiftly becoming one of the largest and most highly regarded in the states (who knew?). So to introduce visitors to this growing bubbly market, The Ivy Hotel has decided to name 2019 “The Year of Champagne.”

The hotel is devoting each season to a unique Champagne-centric theme and individual way of celebrating the bubbling beverage through culinary experiments, unique cocktails and even wellness (apparently there’s more to using Champagne in your self-care routine than simply popping open a bottle and pouring yourself a glass…or three).

In addition to the events and specialities limited to each season’s theme, the Ivy also hosts a range of activities and experiences centered around Champagne year-round.

There’s a classic Champagne afternoon tea, a relaxing Champagne bath salt turndown service and even a class on sabering (i.e., opening a bottle of bubbly with a sword or, probably more likely, a kitchen knife). You’ll also be greeted with a glass of Champagne and bottle in your room upon arrival. Basically you’ll be sipping and sparkling from the moment you check in until the moment you leave (cue the hiccups).

You can visit the hotels website to learn more about The Ivy Hotel and its year of Champagne or to book a bottle for yourself. So sorry, we mean room. Perhaps we’ve already had a glass too many…
